Once considered a potential No. 1 pick, at least in media circles, the Colorado quarterback appeared destined for a bit of a slide when word emerged that teams weren't nearly as bullish.</p><p>Nobody could have predicted the way things unfolded Thursday night. And then Friday. And then Saturday. Eventually, some of us were probably wondering whether he'd be drafted at all. Sanders did finally get the call, going to the Browns in the fifth round, 144th overall. The most staggering fall in NFL draft history makes Aaron Rodgers' green-room wait seem like a walk in the park.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The reason we couldn't have seen it coming? Sanders' draft stock appears to have been complicated by factors beyond what those of us on the outside can see on the field.</p><p>"Throughout the pre-draft process, Shedeur Sanders very much proceeded as if he was dictating to clubs where he was going to go," <a href="https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1916139354897993920">NFL Network's Tom Pelissero</a> reported Saturday.</p><p>Pelissero added, "At the combine, it is now well-documented, some of his formal interviews did not go well. One assistant coach told me, in all his years, it was the worst formal interview he'd ever been through. People said that Shedeur was trying to dictate how he wanted things to go and made them feel small." </p><p>That would be one thing if teams saw him as a Day 1 starter at quarterback. Evidently, they did not. So one after another passed, 143 times.</p><p>None of it matters now. Sanders will set out to make teams look foolish for passing on him. But it's fair to wonder whether he has much of a chance in Cleveland. He'll face an uphill battle to get on the field as a rookie, as the team has also made investments in Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and third-round pick Dillon Gabriel.</p><p>Plus, the Browns picking up a 2026 first-rounder in their trade down with the Jaguars gives them all the draft capital they'll need to get one of the top quarterbacks in next year's class. It really is one of the most fascinating draft trades we've ever seen.</p><p>The Jaguars, frankly, are not remotely close to contention. And even if they were, trading a future first-rounder to move up three spots for anyone other than a quarterback generally could, and should, be seen as reckless. But this is a unique situation. Travis Hunter isn't your average non-quarterback.</p><p>The Colorado star offers legitimate Pro Bowl upside at both receiver and cornerback, two valuable positions. He truly is unlike any player this league has ever seen. There was some question whether NFL teams would allow him to play both ways, with the thought being that such an unprecedented workload could impact his durability. The new Jaguars staff appears intent on taking advantage of his two-way skill set.</p><p>It's a fitting first move for new general manager James Gladstone, who joined the Jaguars this offseason after learning under Les Snead and Sean McVay in Los Angeles. You may remember that the Rams won a Super Bowl while trading away one premium pick after another.</p><p>"I've probably got some familiarity with the '(F--k) them picks' sort of process," Gladstone told reporters Thursday night. "For our fans, I'll tell you, don't be scared. This is something I'm uniquely positioned to navigate."</p><p>Is it risky? Sure. But you have to love the aggressiveness in this case. The role reversal may prove to be short-lived.</p><p>The first offseason under Mike Vrabel's watch isn't even complete, and it's becoming increasingly easy to see how this team might soon return to a competitive level. Free agency got things started in the right direction, with the Patriots flexing their salary-cap muscle by adding four impact starters on defense and at least a few more on offense, including new No. 1 receiver Stefon Diggs. </script></figure><p>New England's top three picks should yield a trio of immediate starters and improve the supporting cast around Drake Maye. Campbell fills a major need on the offensive line, while Henderson provides both big-play ability and a rare level of pass-protection skills for a rookie back. Williams is a sudden athlete who runs good routes and has the ability to take the top off the defense. He'll operate as the No. 2 target alongside Diggs for now, and he's got sneaky WR1 upside long term.</p><p>The next four selections have plenty of potential, too. Wilson is a supremely athletic center who should be pushing Garrett Bradbury for the starting job before long. Woodson is a versatile safety talent who was one of our <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3269279" href="https://thescore.com/news/3269279">hidden gems</a> in this class, while both Farmer and Swinson offer some intriguing pass-rush upside for their respective draft slots on Day 3.</p><p>All things considered, it doesn't get much better than this. The outstanding haul earned the Patriots an A+ in our final <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3264295" href="https://thescore.com/news/3264295">draft grades</a>, putting them in a class of their own this year.</p><p>A poor run of drafting in the latter stages of the Bill Belichick era had put this team in a real hole. Getting the quarterback last year was a big step in the right direction. And if this is the kind of drafting we can expect from a Vrabel-led operation, the Patriots are going to make a lot of noise for years to come.</p><h3>Every team's best value pick</h3><figure class="article-segment--embed"><iframe title="Best value picks - 2025" aria-label="Table" id="datawrapper-chart-BEUao" src="https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/BEUao/1/" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="width: 0; min-width: 100% !important; border: none;" height="661" data-external="1"></iframe><script type="text/javascript">!function(){"use strict";window.addEventListener("message",(function(a){if(void 0!==a.data["datawrapper-height"]){var e=document.querySelectorAll("iframe");for(var t in a.data["datawrapper-height"])for(var r,i=0;r=e[i];i++)if(r.contentWindow===a.source){var d=a.data["datawrapper-height"][t]+"px";r.style.height=d}}}))}();
</script></figure><h3>Biggest steal</h3><p><strong>Simmons falls to Chiefs</strong></p><p>Josh Simmons was always bound to slide at least a bit in the first round, as a torn patellar tendon suffered in October complicated his draft evaluation. Teams will probably regret letting him get all the way to the Chiefs at the end of the first round. If healthy, he had a real case to be the No. 1 offensive lineman in this draft, as the Ohio State standout is far and away the best pass-protector of the group. And while Kansas City may have to be patient, all reports suggest his recovery is going well. Adding this kind of talent at left tackle, be it for this season or next, will address one of the few problem areas that has given opposing teams hope against the Chiefs.</p><h3>Worst draft decision</h3><p><strong>WYD, Falcons?</strong></p><p>The Jaguars got a pass for trading a future first-round pick for a non-quarterback, but the Falcons get no such consideration. While we can all appreciate the effort to double down on edge rushers after getting Jalon Walker at No. 15, giving up their top pick in 2026 to move up 20 spots for James Pearce Jr. is easily the worst move of the weekend. That's no slight to Pearce, either. The Tennessee product offers plenty of pass-rush juice, and he's a perfectly fine value at his draft slot. But giving up a future first to sneak back into the end of Day 1 is awful asset management. The bizarre move spoils what was otherwise an exceptional draft haul for Atlanta.</p><h3>Early OROY pick</h3><p><strong>Kaleb Johnson, RB, Steelers</strong></p><p>Johnson felt like a boom-or-bust pick heading into this draft. He wasn't going to be a good fit everywhere, but an outside-zone system would allow him to translate the success he enjoyed at Iowa. Pittsburgh provides that ideal landing spot from a scheme perspective, and the free-agent departure of Najee Harris leaves a massive early-down workload up for grabs. While it's certainly more of a long-shot pick for OROY, Johnson should be in a position to put up big numbers as part of a Steelers offense that will always remain committed to the run game.</p><h3>Early DROY pick</h3><p><strong>Abdul Carter, EDGE, Giants</strong></p><p>Maybe this one is too obvious. It's just tough to pick anyone else considering the talent and situation Carter is stepping into. The Giants have their fair share of shortcomings, but this won't be a case where a top pick is asked to do it all himself up front. Carter will have the luxury of working opposite Brian Burns, with Dexter Lawrence and sleeper third-rounder Darius Alexander on the inside. Barring a trade, 2022 first-rounder Kayvon Thibodeaux will be in the mix, too. That's a ridiculous collection of talent up front. Opposing offenses won't be able to send slide-and-chip help at Carter all game, potentially clearing the way for some major production right out of the gate.</p><h3>Free agency/trade fallout</h3><p>As of Monday, remaining free agents will no longer be a part of next year's compensation pick formula. You can bet that a few of the more savvy front offices were waiting on that date before dipping back into the market and trying to scoop up some of the established veterans still looking for a new home.</p><p>The Bears, for example, could turn to free agency after missing out on top running backs in the draft. JK Dobbins is still available after a breakout season with the Chargers, and Nick Chubb would be an interesting addition a year removed from his major knee injury.</p><p>Keep an eye on the trade market, too. There weren't many veterans on the move on draft weekend, but talks will likely pick up now that teams have a better idea of roster needs. On the running back front, <a href="https://x.com/JosinaAnderson/status/1915460243334615228">NFL insider Josina Anderson</a> reported this week there's been talk of the Jets making Breece Hall available. Elsewhere, the Dolphins are exploring trade options with Jalen Ramsey, Jaire Alexander could be on the way out of Green Bay, and the Steelers reportedly received calls about George Pickens.</p><h3>2026 lookahead</h3><p>Already getting curious about the 2026 class? Most had Denver looking at playmakers, but a potential top-10 talent is too good to pass up that late. Barron's playmaking skills and versatility should make him an excellent addition to an already strong secondary. Plus, the Broncos got a really fun pair of playmakers on Day 2. Harvey is an explosive back who's always making defenders miss. Bryant flew under the radar due to his average speed, but his route-running, ball skills, and run-after-catch ability should still make him a productive pro. Jones could also emerge as a key piece of the pass-rush rotation with some more development. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: A-</strong></p><p>The rest of the league will probably regret letting Simmons fall to the Chiefs at the end of the first round. He's still working his way back from a torn patellar tendon suffered in October, but he's the best pass-protector in this class. Simmons probably would've been a top-10 pick were it not for the injury. Norman-Lott and Gillotte provide some exciting pass-rush upside, and Williams is a great fit for a defense that loves to have its cornerbacks play press coverage. And it's easy to see Royals, my No. 7 receiver in this class, becoming a productive player. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p>There's always a case to be made against drafting a running back early, but Jeanty is a special case. The unique combination of vision, contact balance, and creativity made him my No. 3 overall player in this class. Bech is a physical wideout who should be a great addition to the receiver room, and Porter is an elite athlete with the size and ball skills to make him a playmaker in the secondary. Keep an eye on Thornton, too. He'll need to expand his route tree coming from that Tennessee offense, but there aren't many 6-foot-5 receivers with 4.3 speed. His ability to stretch the field could be a nice fit with Geno Smith. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p>The Chargers' first-round strategy was a little confusing. Picking Hampton felt like a bit of a misstep with so many needs elsewhere and so many good players available at running back. The subsequent selections helped balance things out, though. Harris can be the big-play receiver they needed on the boundary to complement Ladd McConkey. Caldwell is a high-end run defender, and Kennard could provide some pass-rush upside in sub-packages. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: B</strong></p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The Texans sure do love their Iowa State receivers. It's tough to blame them in this class. Getting Higgins and Noel on Day 2 is a nice haul to address the receiver depth after a tough season for that group. Higgins is a big body who runs good routes and can make plays above the rim. Noel is a smaller, more explosive target who creates easy separation. Ersery is also an interesting addition to the new-look offensive line room, bringing a combination of size, power, and athleticism at tackle. Trading up for Marks in the fourth round is a strange one here. That's no slight against the USC product, but giving up a 2026 third-rounder feels unnecessary in a stacked running back class. The position was the most glaring need on their roster heading in, and Warren is a physical, do-it-all playmaker who can also contribute as an in-line blocker. Tuimoloau is a talented power rusher who flew under the radar as part of this edge group. His game should translate well, giving Indy a long-term running mate for 2024 first-rounder Laiatu Latu. Walley is an exciting sleeper in the secondary, and Travis could be a candidate to challenge for one of the starting guard spots up front. And keep an eye on Giddens. Parting with future first-rounders, among other assets, for non-QBs is generally not a good idea. But this is a true unicorn prospect we're talking about. Hunter's got legitimate All-Pro upside at both receiver and corner. The Ransaw pick was a little early, and it would have been nice to see the Jaguars dip into a loaded defensive tackle class to address their needs up front. But Milum has starter potential if he moves into guard, and Tuten is a big-play machine at running back. Could Tuten be this year's version of Bucky Irving for Liam Coen's offense? The Titans had to take a swing on a quarterback, and the Miami star has the arm talent, athleticism, and creativity to be a high-end starter. Oladejo and Dike feel like reaches in their respective draft slots, slightly weighing down the overall grade. However, moving down in the second round to replace the third-round pick lost in the L'Jarius Sneed trade was a good move. Winston should be a significant upgrade on the back end of the defense, and Ayomanor gives Ward an athletic, competitive receiver to develop alongside in the years to come. His instincts, range, and ball skills will make him a great fit next to Kyle Hamilton in the secondary. Green fills a big need on the edge, and the expected first-round pick was available on Day 2 because he's twice been accused of sexual assault. Jones is a talented lineman who could have some starter upside with a transition inside to guard, and Buchanan's coverage skills at linebacker made him one of my hidden gems of this class. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: D+</strong></p><p>The Bengals deserve some credit for attacking their biggest needs - defensive line, linebacker, and guard were all significant areas of concern heading into this draft. But it's not so easy to get on board with how they went about their business. Stewart is a project player up front. He's one of the best athletes at the position, but he's got a long way to go before he puts it all together. Knight is a solid run defender, but he doesn't quite offer the same upside in the pass game. And Fairchild in the third round isn't great value. Passing on Travis Hunter by trading out of the No. 2 spot is a questionable move; the two-way Colorado star truly is that special. That being said, it's easy enough to understand why Cleveland preferred the picks haul. Jacksonville's 2026 first-rounder could help the Browns get in position for the quarterback of their choice in next year's draft. And it's easy to be excited about what they did with this year's collection of picks. Graham, my No. 4 overall player, is an elite talent on the interior defensive front. He'll be a lot of fun lined up next to Myles Garrett. Schwesinger is this draft's best coverage linebacker, Judkins and Sampson can provide a true thunder-and-lightning combination in the backfield, and Fannin is a unique run-after-catch playmaker at tight end. And then there's Sanders. The Browns taking Gabriel two rounds earlier is definitely strange, but we'll overlook that for now. Sanders could compete to start right away, potentially making him one of the draft's biggest steals. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p>The Steelers were considered a potential Shedeur Sanders landing spot each time they were on the clock through the first four rounds. Passing on every such opportunity would appear to indicate some sort of understanding Aaron Rodgers will eventually sign in Pittsburgh, and this class looks good with that in mind. Harmon fills a pressing need on the defensive line, providing a power skill set equally effective against the run and pass. The second-round pick was traded for DK Metcalf. Johnson's a perfect fit for this Steelers offense after dominating as an outside-zone runner at Iowa; he should immediately step in as the lead back. Sawyer could also prove to be a nice value pick in the fourth round, as he's always managed to produce despite an average athletic profile and lack of length. Hairston is an elite athlete who brings some much-needed playmaking skills to the secondary. Sanders is an explosive pass-rush talent who could complement Ed Oliver nicely on the interior. Jackson is a three-down player with size, athleticism, and a great motor - he's a steal in the third round. The same can probably be said for 6-foot-7, 331-pound defensive tackle Deone Walker. He moves incredibly well for his size, and he likely would have been long gone by the fourth round if injuries didn't contribute to a down 2024 season. Grant is a massive defensive tackle who dominates in that area, and he's got more pass-rush upside than you'd expect for a player his size. Phillips is also a dominant run defender who provides great value in the fifth round. While Savaiinaea fills a need on the offensive line, and while his athleticism will certainly make him a fit in Mike McDaniel's zone run game, it's tough to get on board with giving up a third-round pick to move up 11 spots in the second round to get him. There was a clear focus on improving the situation around Drake Maye and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. All indications suggest the Patriots see Campbell as their left tackle of the future, and why wouldn't they? A lack of length didn't give him any issues against SEC competition. While Henderson may not profile as a true workhorse back, he's a big-play machine and he's got the best third-down skill set of any back in this draft. Williams is one of the more exciting mid-round receivers in this class, and Wilson should push Garrett Bradbury for the starting center job sooner than later. There's also a lot to like about New England's defensive picks on Day 3, giving Mike Vrabel some young pieces to contribute on that side. Membou was a great pick at No. 7, rounding out a talented, young offensive line with a potential Pro Bowl right tackle. Taylor should be an immediate starter at tight end, and Thomas is a perfect fit for a defense that figures to lean on a lot of man coverage. Don't sleep on Moore, either. He flew under the radar in this safety class, but he's got the instincts, range, and tackling skills to be a reliable contributor from the jump. Nolen's ceiling is as high as any defensive lineman in this class, and he'll be a game-changer if he can improve his consistency at the next level. Johnson, who was the No. 8 overall player on my board, looks like a steal in the middle of the second round. And he may be, but he was only available at that spot due to a knee issue reportedly flagged by teams during medical reviews. Burch and Simon have the potential to contribute in starting roles, too. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p>Getting a 2026 first-round pick from the Falcons to trade out of Day 1 is more than enough to earn the Rams high marks. The extra draft capital could put Les Snead and Sean McVay in position to trade up for Matthew Stafford's successor in next year's talented quarterback class. There's lots to like with this group, too. The Rams were long rumored to be chasing playmaking ability at tight end and Ferguson certainly has the athleticism to fill that role. Stewart is a great addition to an impressive young pass-rush group, and Paul fills a pressing need at linebacker. The grade would have been even higher if L.A. found a way to upgrade the secondary, but perhaps there's another path for such a move later this offseason. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p>The 49ers were clearly focused on upgrading the defense in this draft, and it's easy to be excited by the result. Williams is an excellent run defender whose impressive physical traits should lead to an uptick in pass-rush production at the next level. He'll be a strong bookend to Nick Bosa on the edge. Collins and West were two of my favorite players in this defensive line class. Both excel in the run game, but they've also got more upside than you think when it comes to getting after the quarterback. That may be three eventual starters on the defensive line right there. The rest of the group is a little underwhelming, and the lack of investment in the offensive line could lead to some problems. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: A-</strong></p><p>Zabel fills a massive need on the interior offensive line, and his athleticism will make him an excellent fit for Klint Kubiak's zone scheme. Emmanwori, considered a first-round talent by many, is great value early on Day 2; Mike Macdonald should have some big plans for his rare size and athletic ability. Arroyo brings some much-needed playmaking at tight end, and Horton is a late-round sleeper who could fill a boundary receiver role alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp. And then there's Milroe, who'll sit and learn for a few years behind Sam Darnold. It's possible Milroe never gets there as a passer, but his elite traits were too good to pass up at that point on Day 3. He'll be one of the league's premier running quarterbacks from Day 1, potentially opening the door for him to contribute in certain packages as a rookie. The Seahawks also came away with Martinez, my No. 4 running back, in the seventh round. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: B</strong></p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>This is a tough one to evaluate. On one hand, the haul is incredibly exciting. The Falcons defense needed all the talent it could get. Doubling down on both pass-rushers and defensive backs was smart, and you can argue each pick was excellent value at its respective draft slot. The bad news: sending the Rams a 2026 first-rounder to move up 20 spots for Pearce is downright reckless. The Falcons probably plan on being a playoff team, mitigating the potential value surrendered with the pick, but that's far easier said than done. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: A-</strong></p><p>This is a fun group for Carolina. McMillan adds a true No. 1 target for Bryce Young, giving the former top pick every opportunity to keep his development headed in the right direction in Year 3. McMillan's a big body who can dominate the contested catch game and make things happen with the ball in his hands. While the pick might have been a little surprising to anyone hoping the Panthers would bolster their pass rush, they made up for that on Day 2. Scourton and Umanmielen both offer plenty of upside in that regard. There were some curious decisions in the fourth round, as the Panthers almost certainly didn't need another running back, and Ransom doesn't exactly fill the need of a coverage free safety alongside big-money free-agent addition Tre'Von Moehrig. But it's an impressive haul on the whole. And don't overlook the addition of Evans on Day 3. The Notre Dame product has good ball skills and can contribute as an in-line blocker, making him my No. 7 tight end in this class.</p><figure class="article-segment--embed"><iframe title="New Orleans Saints" aria-label="Table" id="datawrapper-chart-46KqR" src="https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/46KqR/9/" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="width: 0; min-width: 100% !important; border: none;" height="372" data-external="1"></iframe><script type="text/javascript">!function(){"use strict";window.addEventListener("message",(function(a){if(void 0!==a.data["datawrapper-height"]){var e=document.querySelectorAll("iframe");for(var t in a.data["datawrapper-height"])for(var r,i=0;r=e[i];i++)if(r.contentWindow===a.source){var d=a.data["datawrapper-height"][t]+"px";r.style.height=d}}}))}();
</script></figure><p><strong>Grade: C+</strong></p><p>The Saints' draft was a bit of a mixed bag. Banks is probably a smart pick, even if yet another offensive lineman has fans begging for more excitement. There were also some nice additions to the defensive side, with Sanker, Stutsman, and Riley all offering potential starter upside. Broughton was a bit of a reach in the third. The Shough pick is the real tough one, though. He probably has the ability to start sooner rather than later, and that'll be important for New Orleans with Derek Carr's status seemingly up in the air. But what's the real upside here? The Saints should be building the roster with a focus on the future. Shough, who didn't break out until the final season of an injury-ridden, seven-year college career, turns 26 in September. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p>Taking Egbuka in the first round didn't make much sense at first. Tampa Bay had some major needs defensively, and the receiver group was stacked. It doesn't look so weird now. The Bucs went hard after defensive players on Day 2, landing a pair of potential starting corners in Morrison and Parrish. They took a similar approach to address the edge on Day 3, and Walker is a particularly interesting addition after truly dominating FCS competition at Central Arkansas. The excellent work to shore up the defense on Day 2 continues an incredible run of drafting from Jason Licht and the Bucs front office. Loveland is a dynamic receiver who I've compared to Darren Waller, and he'll be an outstanding fit for the Sam LaPorta role in Ben Johnson's offense. And the Bears went right back to searching for playmakers from there. Burden is one of the most explosive pass-catchers in this class, Trapilo could push Braxton Jones for a starting job at tackle before long, and Turner's a powerful interior lineman with the traits to become a three-down player with some more development. It would have been nice to see the Bears make a big move at running back earlier, but Monangai is a fascinating sleeper. The Rutgers product is an extremely physical runner who also plays with impressive lateral quickness. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p>The Lions have proven everyone wrong several times on the path to becoming one of the league's most well-run organizations. That may well happen again here, but this group, and the process involved in putting it together, leaves something to be desired. Williams is an outstanding run defender who doesn't offer much as a pass-rusher. Could that pick have been used to fill the edge-rush need opposite Aidan Hutchinson? Ratledge is a strong addition to the offensive line, so there's a lot to like there, but things get weird in the third round. While TeSlaa's an interesting lottery ticket at receiver, giving up two third-round picks next year to move up 32 spots is simply bad business. And it's not the first time the Lions have done this: Detroit coughed up third- and fourth-round picks this year to move up twice in the fourth round in 2024. The Lions remain among the top teams in the NFC, but this wasn't the kind of expert maneuvering I've come to expect from this front office.</p><figure class="article-segment--embed"><iframe title="Green Bay Packers" aria-label="Table" id="datawrapper-chart-xp1Uk" src="https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/xp1Uk/9/" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="width: 0; min-width: 100% !important; border: none;" height="345" data-external="1"></iframe><script type="text/javascript">!function(){"use strict";window.addEventListener("message",(function(a){if(void 0!==a.data["datawrapper-height"]){var e=document.querySelectorAll("iframe");for(var t in a.data["datawrapper-height"])for(var r,i=0;r=e[i];i++)if(r.contentWindow===a.source){var d=a.data["datawrapper-height"][t]+"px";r.style.height=d}}}))}();
</script></figure><p><strong>Packers: B</strong></p><p>Aaron Rodgers has to be smiling somewhere. Or scowling. Who's to say? Either way, the Packers taking a first-round receiver for the first time since 2002 is worth celebrating. And Golden is exciting. His speed and route-running skills will be an important addition to the Green Bay offense after a frustrating 2024 season. Belton may have been a bit of a reach in the second round, but you've got to live with that when offensive linemen were flying off the board so quickly; his impressive size and power makes him worth a shot there. Williams is a bit of a curious decision in Round 3, as the receiver room is starting to get crowded. He shouldn't necessarily be seen as a pure receiver, though - he's a unique playmaker who can be used all over the field. Sorrell is an under-the-radar Day 3 pick, but it would have been nice to see the Packers invest in the defense earlier.</p><figure class="article-segment--embed"><iframe title="Minnesota Vikings" aria-label="Table" id="datawrapper-chart-VMQeE" src="https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/VMQeE/9/" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="width: 0; min-width: 100% !important; border: none;" height="237" data-external="1"></iframe><script type="text/javascript">!function(){"use strict";window.addEventListener("message",(function(a){if(void 0!==a.data["datawrapper-height"]){var e=document.querySelectorAll("iframe");for(var t in a.data["datawrapper-height"])for(var r,i=0;r=e[i];i++)if(r.contentWindow===a.source){var d=a.data["datawrapper-height"][t]+"px";r.style.height=d}}}))}();
</script></figure><p><strong>Grade: B-</strong></p><p>Minnesota had only four selections in this draft, so this was bound to be a relatively underwhelming haul. The quality was up to the standard of this Vikings offense, though. Jackson should be a Day 1 starter at left guard, rounding out a much-improved offensive line for sophomore starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy. And Felton's an underrated playmaker who could quickly earn a role alongside Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. The volume impacts the overall grade, but all things considered this was still a productive weekend for the Vikings. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: A-</strong></p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>It wasn't the most exciting start to the weekend for Dallas, as taking Booker at No. 12 felt like a bit of a reach. But that's not to say he won't be an impact player. The Alabama lineman will pair with Tyler Smith to give the Cowboys an incredibly powerful pair of guards up front. From there, it was was one value pick after another. Ezeiruaku and Revel were considered potential first-round talents heading into the draft. A lack of size was likely the leading factor in Ezeiruaku's slide, but he's a polished edge-rusher who should provide a major upgrade opposite Micah Parsons. Revel has the length, speed, and coverage instincts to be an impact player when he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in September. And everyone waiting on the Cowboys to scoop up a playmaker should be happy with the addition of Blue on Day 3. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p>The Giants did the right thing not forcing a quarterback at No. 3. While edge rusher certainly wasn't among their top needs heading in, Carter is a true game-changer. You don't pass on a top-two player in a draft short on elite talent. The second pick weighs down our grade a bit. Granted, it's never a bad idea to take a swing on a quarterback. Perhaps Dart does work out in the long run. But he's got a long way to go in terms of processing and decision-making after playing in a QB-friendly offense at Ole Miss. He might need several years of development before he's got a chance to contribute on the field. Trading back into the end of the round to get him hurts the value even more. The Giants didn't have a second-round pick as a result, but they fared well once they got back on the clock. Alexander is a powerful defensive tackle to round out the defensive front, and Skattebo is an incredibly physical runner who might be the perfect early down complement to sophomore back Tyrone Tracy. Keep an eye on Mbow, too. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p>Howie Roseman is at it again. In theory, the draft order should put the Super Bowl champs at a bit of a disadvantage. It rarely works out that way when we're talking about the Eagles. Campbell, our No. 14-ranked player in this class, is arguably the best value pick of Day 1. Mukuba was likely only available at the end of the second round because of his size, but you'd never know it based on the way he plays. He's a physical, downhill force in the run game who also plays with great instincts in coverage. He'll immediately fill a big need for the Philly defense. Don't sleep on Ty Robinson, either. The Nebraska product is an excellent athlete who could contribute right away in Philly's defensive line rotation. And Eagles fans should be thrilled with with Mondon in the fifth round. </script></figure><p><strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p>It sure is strange seeing this organization so consistently making smart moves. That's the power of competent ownership. The overall draft haul is a little light in terms of volume, but you have to factor in the trades made to acquire Laremy Tunsil and Deebo Samuel this offseason. The clear effort to improve the supporting cast around Jayden Daniels continued with a smart pick in the first round, as Conerly is a good athlete who could immediately take over at starting right tackle opposite Tunsil. Amos, our No. 4 cornerback and No. 34 player overall, was a steal at the end of the second round. And Lane is a dynamic playmaker who should be a good fit in Kliff Kingsbury's offense. Follow along for live analysis of all notable developments from Rounds 2-3.</em></p><p><strong>Shedeur Sanders still waiting</strong></p><p>Sanders sliding in the first round was no surprise. It had long been clear that NFL teams saw a significant gap between Cam Ward and the rest of the quarterback class, and that was an entirely fair evaluation. But nobody could have reasonably made the case that the Colorado star wasn't, at the very least, a Day 2 talent. Sanders still being available into Saturday could be taken as confirmation of rumors that his pre-draft meetings with teams did not go well. There are a few potential landing spots near the top of the fourth round that might make sense, but we were all saying the same thing heading into Day 2. There's no telling how long he'll remain on the board now.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p><strong>Browns select Dillon Gabriel</strong><br><em>QB, Oregon - 94th overall</em></p><p>Just when we were starting to feel good about what the Browns were doing with all these picks. Taking a swing on a quarterback is rarely a bad idea, but this feels like a wild reach. Gabriel is an undersized passer with average physical traits. Making him a third-round pick with so much talent on the board, including a sliding Shedeur Sanders, is bizarre stuff.</p><p><strong>Seahawks select Jalen Milroe</strong><br><em>QB, Alabama - 92nd overall</em></p><p>Milroe is an awesome pick for the Seahawks. They've got their starter in place after signing Sam Darnold, but that shouldn't stop a team from taking a big swing with an eye on the future, especially when it comes with this kind of upside. Milroe has a long way to go as a passer but has the best physical traits of any quarterback in this class. The arm talent is elite, and he'll immediately be one of the NFL's best runners at the position. Let him sit for a few years and see if he can take the necessary steps in his development. It's an extremely low-risk gamble this late on Day 2. And the payoff could be substantial.</p><p><strong>Steelers select Kaleb Johnson</strong><br><em>RB, Iowa - 83rd overall</em></p><p>This really felt like the floor for Shedeur Sanders. Yet the slide continues. You have to think there's some sort of understanding Aaron Rodgers will be signing in Pittsburgh at some point soon. Assuming that's the case, there's a lot to love about this pick. Johnson probably needs a zone run game to replicate his success at Iowa, which he'll get in Arthur Smith's offense. He'll have a pretty clear path to a feature workload, too. Steelers fans and fantasy football managers alike should be pretty excited about this one.</p><p><strong>Cowboys select Shavon Revel Jr.</strong><br><em>CB, East Carolina - 76th overall</em></p><p>Make that two great value picks in a row for the Cowboys' defense. Revel was seen by many as a first-round talent heading into this draft. A torn ACL suffered in September evidently led to a lengthy slide, but there's so much potential here. Revel has a rare combination of size and speed for the position. He also plays with good instincts and physicality. Even if the Cowboys have to bring him along slowly, he's got a real chance to emerge as an impact starter. That makes him a steal in the third round.</p><p><strong>Patriots draft Kyle Williams</strong><br><em>WR, Washington State - 69th overall</em></p><p>Three picks, three players to improve Drake Maye's supporting cast. And this one may well be every bit as impactful as the previous two. Will Campbell and TreVeyon Henderson are the headliners, but Williams is quietly one of the most exciting receivers in this class. He's a sudden athlete with a good release package and excellent route-running skills. His speed allows him to both take the top off the defense and make big plays after the catch. Williams could have an instant impact as the No. 2 receiver in the Patriots' offense. And it may not be long before he emerges as Maye's favorite target.</p><p><strong>Browns select Harold Fannin Jr.</strong><br><em>TE, Bowling Green - 67th overall</em></p><p>Fannin is such a fun player. While it's understandable to be skeptical of monster production against a lower level of competition, the numbers are only part of the equation. He's a good route-runner, and although his athletic profile is nothing spectacular, you'd never know it based on his ability to make plays after the catch. He'll bounce off contact, make defenders miss, or even stiff-arm them to the ground. The Browns won't generate much hype until they've got the quarterback position figured out. And trading out of an opportunity to draft Travis Hunter on Thursday night won't help. But it's hard not to like what they're doing with all those picks so far.</p><p><strong>Commanders select Trey Amos</strong><br><em>CB, Ole Miss - 61st overall</em></p><p>The Commanders desperately needed talent in the secondary, and Amos checks that box in a big way. The Ole Miss product is a fluid cover man who plays with impressive instincts and ball skills. The speed felt like one of few areas of concerns, and then he went out and ran a 4.43 at the combine. Amos' quietly well-rounded skill set made him our No. 4 cornerback and the No. 34 overall player in this class. He could prove to be a major steal at the end of the second round.</p><p><strong>Broncos select RJ Harvey</strong><br><em>RB, UCF - 60th overall</em></p><p>Harvey is one of the more underrated players in a star-studded running back class. The size isn't quite what teams are looking for in a workhorse back, but Sean Payton should have no problem finding ideal ways to feature his unique skill set. Harvey is an explosive runner who plays with good vision and some incredible elusiveness to make defenders miss. He could be a big-play machine in the Broncos' offense.</p><p><strong>Raiders select Jack Bech</strong><br><em>WR, TCU - 58th overall</em></p><p>Bech should be a fun weapon for the Raiders. He may not have game-breaking speed, but he does just about everything else at a high level. The TCU product is a detailed route-runner, has got the ball skills and body control to go up and get it, and is tough after the catch. That skill set will fit in nicely alongside Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers, giving Geno Smith several reliable weapons in the passing game. And with first-rounder Ashton Jeanty stepping in as the feature back, this offense is quickly trending in the right direction.</p><p><strong>Chargers select Tre Harris</strong><br><em>WR, Ole Miss - 55th overall</em></p><p>It was only a matter of time before the Chargers made a big move at wideout, and this is a pretty exciting one. Harris, our No. 10 receiver in this class, is a physical target who excels in the contested-catch game and can make plays after the catch. He doesn't have high-end speed, and the route tree was relatively limited at Ole Miss, but he showed plenty of savvyness in the assignments he did have. Harris' skill set on the boundary could provide an excellent complement to Ladd McConkey in the slot.</p><p><strong>Buccaneers select Benjamin Morrison</strong><br><em>CB, Notre Dame - 53rd overall</em></p><p>The Bucs passing on defense in the first round was a little surprising, even if Egbuka is a great addition to the receiver room. Getting a supremely talented cornerback at this point in Day 2 should ease any concerns. Morrison is another player who would have been drafted much earlier were it not for injuries. Assuming he's made a smooth recovery from last year's hip ailment, he's got the cover skills and playmaking ability to be a No. 1 corner at the next level.</p><p><strong>Cardinals select Will Johnson</strong><br><em>CB, Michigan - 47th overall</em></p><p>Johnson's slide finally comes to an end half way through the second round. And this didn't have anything to do with talent. Were it not for some injury concerns, the Michigan product could have been selected as early as the top 10. Teams are concerned about his longevity after flagging a knee issue during the pre-draft process, <a href="https://www.si.com/nfl/takeaways-shedeur-sanders-could-fall-2025-nfl-draft">SI's Albert Breer</a> reported this week. It's impossible to say whether there's anything to those fears, but it's absolutely worth the risk at this point. Johnson is an elite playmaker with good size and fluid movement skills.</p><p><strong>Cowboys select Donovan Ezeiruaku</strong><br><em>EDGE, Boston College - 44th overall</em></p><p>Ezeiruaku is one of the biggest steals of the draft so far. The Boston College product - our No. 6 edge rusher and No. 27 prospect overall - was seen by many as a likely first-round pick. His size probably kept him from getting drafted on Day 1, but there's just so much to like about everything he put on tape. Ezeiruaku is an impressive athlete who already has a deep arsenal of rush moves. He'll be a major upgrade opposite Micah Parsons.</p><p><strong>Saints select Tyler Shough</strong><br><em>QB, Louisville - 40th overall</em></p><p>The Saints have their quarterback, and this will be a polarizing one. Shough didn't break out until the seventh year of his injury-ridden college football career, and he turns 26 in September. That was certainly something to consider in the evaluation, but his 2024 tape was legitimately good. He's got lots of arm talent, he's accurate to all levels of the field, and he can even make plays outside of structure. Shough could compete to start right away as a rookie. And with Derek Carr's status unclear heading into the 2025 season, that's exactly what the Saints need.</p><p><strong>Bears select Luther Burden III</strong><br><em>WR, Missouri - 39th overall</em></p><p>Caleb Williams has everything he could possibly need. The Bears started their offseason with a series of aggressive moves to reshape a brutal offensive line. Skill players have been the focus early in the draft, and it's just so easy to get excited about what they're putting together. Burden is a dynamic presence who can make plays both down the field and after the catch. That kind of ability alongside D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze, as well as first-round tight end Colston Loveland, gives Chicago an incredibly exciting group of pass-catchers. The buzz will ramp up even more if and when the Bears add to the running back room later on.</p><p><strong>Patriots select TreVeyon Henderson</strong><br><em>RB, Ohio State - 38th overall</em></p><p>This is a fun one. The Patriots have been focused on improving the supporting cast around Drake Maye, and Henderson can do that as well as any running back in this class. Not only is he a dynamic receiver out of the backfield, but he's one of the rare prospects at the position who is already a proficient pass-blocker. Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson should make for an awesome backfield tandem.</p><p><strong>Browns select Quinshon Judkins</strong><br><em>RB, Ohio State - 36th overall</em></p><p>The Browns have their new feature back. Judkins going ahead of Henderson is a bit of a surprise, but he's certainly easier to project as a workhorse at the next level than his Ohio State teammate. Judkins an extremely physical runner who has impressive vision and the speed to hit the big play. He's going to be tough to defend in the cold weather in Cleveland.</p><p><strong>Seahawks trade up for Nick Emmanwori</strong><br><em>S, South Carolina - 35th overall</em></p><p>Emmanwori is one of the most interesting players in this draft. The South Carolina product was considered by many to be a first-round talent after an outstanding combine performance gave him a perfect 10 in his Relative Athletic Score profile. There just aren't many athletes who move like this at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds. He could become a force if the Seahawks can bring out some physicality to match the impressive frame.</p><p><strong>Texans select Jayden Higgins</strong><br><em>WR, Iowa State - 34th overall</em></p><p>Houston had to come away with a receiver at some point early in this draft. After acquiring some extra picks to move out of the first round Thursday, landing Higgins is a strong move to that end. His size and route-running skills should be a great fit opposite Nico Collins, with Christian Kirk working out of the slot.</p><h3>Top story</h3><p>Shedeur Sanders is still on the board after the first round, and there's seemingly no guarantee he gets picked early on Day 2. No drama here, nor should there be. Ward is far and away the best quarterback in this class. While the Titans are passing on at least a few higher-ranked players to make this pick, no one should blame them. A high-level quarterback is imperative for any semblance of success in this league. Ward has the arm talent, athleticism, and creativity to eventually become that type of player. <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>🚨 <strong>Jaguars trade up for Travis Hunter</strong><br><em>CB/WR, Colorado - 2nd overall</em></p><p><strong>Trade details:</strong> <em>Browns send No. 2, No. 104 (4th round), No. 200 (6th round) to Jaguars for No. 5, No. 36 (2nd round), No. 126 (4th round), 2026 1st-round pick</em></p><p>Chaos. Mock drafts everywhere had the Browns sticking at No. 2 and taking Hunter for themselves, because why wouldn't they? Not only is the two-way Colorado star the best player in this draft, but he's also unlike any player the NFL has ever seen. Hunter truly has Pro Bowl potential at both receiver and cornerback. The Jaguars paid one heck of a price to move up and get him. Conceding that kind of draft capital for a non-quarterback is extremely risky. We have no choice but to respect it when discussing a true unicorn prospect. <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p><strong>Giants select Abdul Carter</strong><br><em>EDGE, Penn State - 3rd overall</em></p><p>No quarterback for the Giants ... yet. And it's probably the right move. Carter is a top-two prospect in this class. His explosiveness off the edge translates seamlessly to the next level, and it should come as no surprise if he's regularly posting double-digit sacks sooner rather than later. You can't pass on that type of player when there's no great option under center. Look for the Giants to circle back on the quarterback position with their next pick, potentially even trading back into the next round. With Carter sliding in as the long-term complement to Brian Burns, perhaps former first-rounder Kayvon Thibodeaux becomes a trade candidate this weekend. <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p><strong>Patriots select Will Campbell</strong><br><em>OL, LSU - 4th overall</em></p><p>It had to be done. An offensive weapon would have been fun, and Mike Vrabel probably would have loved the idea of getting a blue-chip talent on defense. But protecting Drake Maye was always going to be priority No. 1. There is some risk here, as Campbell doesn't have ideal length for an offensive tackle. Maybe that eventually leads to a move inside to guard. Either way, it's a strong move to improve the foundation around their young quarterback. <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p><strong>Browns select Mason Graham</strong><br><em>DL, Michigan - 5th overall</em></p><p>It's admittedly hard to love what Cleveland did trading down when it involves passing on the best player in the draft and a true generational talent. The grade takes a hit for that reason. But it may still prove to be a wise decision in the end. The Browns' draft-pick haul to move back all of three spots is substantial. And they still end up with a potential star in Graham. The Michigan defensive tackle was our No. 4-ranked player in this draft. He can make an impact both as a pass-rusher and in the run game. Lining Graham up next to Myles Garrett could be nightmare fuel for opposing offensive lines. <strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p><strong>Raiders select Ashton Jeanty</strong><br><em>RB, Boise State - 6th overall</em></p><p>It was always Jeanty. Some late buzz about the Raiders potentially going with an offensive tackle had the entire draft industry pivoting from the early favorite in its final mocks. Pete Carroll was never going to pass on the possibility of an elite run game. We can't dish out a perfect grade here, as there's always some risk in using significant draft capital on a running back. But Jeanty is worth it. A truly rare combination of vision, contact balance, creativity, and home run speed could make him one of the league's best running backs in short order. <strong>Grade: A-</strong></p><p><strong>Jets select Armand Membou</strong><br><em>OL, Missouri - 7th overall</em></p><p>Are the Jets making smart moves? It really is a new era in Florham Park. While most people probably have a tough time getting excited about an offensive tackle, this one has to fire Jets fans up. Membou is an outstanding athlete who should be the perfect long-term right tackle opposite 2024 first-rounder Olu Fashanu. New York filling the final spot on the offensive line and finally making that group a strength could help kickstart a turnaround. <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p><strong>Panthers select Tetairoa McMillan</strong><br><em>WR, Arizona - 8th overall</em></p><p>Surprise! Everyone had the Panthers going defense in the first round. It probably would've been a smart move with how much the unit struggled last year, but this works, too. McMillan is a big-bodied target who dominates the contested-catch game and moves well for his size. Adding a true No. 1 receiver should keep Bryce Young's development moving in the right direction. Let's focus on the defense for the rest of the draft, shall we? <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p><strong>Saints select Kelvin Banks Jr.</strong><br><em>OL, Texas - 9th overall</em></p><p>Saints fans are probably tired of offensive line picks at this point. It's understandable. And Banks was the No. 29 player on our board, so this will be the first one not to receive positive reviews. We can at least commend the front office for resisting the urge to force a quarterback pick. Now, the question is whether New Orleans gives up a ton of picks to get back into the first round. <strong>Grade: C+</strong></p><p><strong>Bears select Colston Loveland</strong><br><em>TE, Michigan - 10th overall</em></p><p>Caleb Williams has another weapon. It's not the running back many were probably hoping for, but Bears fans should be excited. Loveland, our top-ranked tight end ahead of Tyler Warren, is a dynamic pass-catcher with shades of Darren Waller in his game. He'll be an outstanding fit for the Sam LaPorta role in Ben Johnson's offense. Find a running back on Day 2, and Chicago is cooking. <strong>Grade: A-</strong></p><p><strong>49ers select Mykel Williams</strong><br><em>EDGE, Georgia - 11th overall</em></p><p>Williams was the No. 22 player on our board, so this may be a little early. But we're in the same ballpark, and the fit is just so perfect. San Francisco had to find a way to improve the defensive front alongside Nick Bosa. Williams will do exactly that as his bookend. The Georgia standout should be an impact run defender from the outset of his pro career, and it likely won't be long before his pass-rush traits turn into legitimate production. <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p><strong>Cowboys select Tyler Booker</strong><br><em>OL, Alabama - 12th overall</em></p><p>This is a tough one. Booker is a powerhouse guard who could be a great addition to a Cowboys offensive line that struggled last year. Still, it feels like a major reach. For reference, Booker was the No. 36 player on our big board. Dallas still has significant needs at receiver and running back. Let's see how Day 2 shakes out. <strong>Grade: C-</strong></p><p><strong>Dolphins select Kenneth Grant</strong><br><em>DT, Michigan - 13th overall</em></p><p>Grant is a massive nose tackle who should immediately shore up the Dolphins' run defense. Don't sleep on his ability to impact the game as a pass-rusher, either. Grant's an unbelievable athlete for a 331-pound lineman. He'll be a nice fit alongside Miami's young edge rushers. <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p><strong>Colts select Tyler Warren</strong><br><em>TE, Penn State - 14th overall</em></p><p>The Colts finally have their tight end. The position was their most glaring need on the roster, and mock drafts were handling this spot accordingly. There were rumors that Indy was trying to trade up for Brock Bowers last year. Warren isn't quite on that level, but he's an exciting prospect in his own right. The Penn State star is strong at the catch point, tough after the reception, and can contribute as an in-line blocker. <strong>Grade: A-</strong></p><p><strong>Falcons select Jalon Walker</strong><br><em>EDGE, Georgia - 15th overall</em></p><p>This was the dream scenario for the Falcons. It didn't seem possible for a while, as Walker had been getting top-eight hype heading into the draft. He was also our No. 10 overall player, so it's hard not to love the value here. Most importantly, Atlanta has finally addressed the worst pass rush in football. Walker saw some time at linebacker at Georgia and may do the same at the next level. But he should make his money on the edge, where his explosiveness gives him a high ceiling when it comes to getting after the quarterback. <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p><strong>Cardinals select Walter Nolen</strong><br><em>DL, Ole Miss - 16th overall</em></p><p>This is a fun pick for the Cardinals. Most were probably expecting them to look elsewhere after a busy offseason overhauling the defensive front, but Nolen's upside was evidently too exciting to pass up. The flashes of brilliance really are that good. He could be a force both as a pass-rusher and as a run defender if he can become more consistent at the next level. <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p><strong>Bengals select Shemar Stewart</strong><br><em>EDGE, Texas A&amp;M - 17th overall</em></p><p>The Bengals setting out to improve their defense is good. The route they're taking to do so is a little more questionable. While some truly freakish athletic traits give Stewart an incredibly high ceiling, he's got a long way to go in his development as a pass-rusher. Putting up three straight 1.5-sack seasons in college says it all on that front. Stewart has star potential, but it feels like it'd take a while to get there. Does that help the Bengals in their efforts to win right now? <strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p><strong>Seahawks select Grey Zabel</strong><br><em>OL, North Dakota State - 18th overall</em></p><p>Zabel had long been connected to the Seahawks, so this one was hardly surprising. His athleticism could make him a solid guard in Klint Kubiak's zone-blocking scheme. It feels a little early for a player making the jump from FCS football to the NFL. Zabel was the No. 44 player on our big board. We'll give high marks for addressing a major need with such a good fit, but the value doesn't seem great. <strong>Grade: B-</strong></p><p><strong>Buccaneers select Emeka Egbuka</strong><br><em>WR, Ohio State - 19th overall</em></p><p>This one is a bit of a stunner, but it's not because of the player. Egbuka is a polished wideout who's easily worth a pick in this spot. The surprise comes from the fact that nobody expected the Bucs to go with a receiver. Mike Evans is still going strong, Chris Godwin got a big-money deal to re-sign before free agency, and Jalen McMillan put together a strong rookie season. It would've been nice to see Tampa address its needs on the defensive side, but it's hard to knock the club too much when it's getting a playmaker of this caliber. <strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p><strong>Broncos select Jahdae Barron</strong><br><em>CB, Texas - 20th overall</em></p><p>Barron is an awesome pick for Denver. Many expected a running back here, but that can wait for Day 2. The Texas standout is an incredibly versatile cover man who can play inside, outside, or even at safety. He's a playmaker in the pass game and will do his part as a run defender, too. An outstanding young secondary just got even more scary. <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p><strong>Steelers select Derrick Harmon</strong><br><em>DL, Oregon - 21st overall</em></p><p>Shedeur Sanders' slide continues. Quarterback would have been an understandable pick for the Steelers here, as they certainly can't be counting on Aaron Rodgers at this point. And with no second-round selection, this may have been their only opportunity to get someone who could start right away. All that aside, Steelers fans should be excited about Harmon. He's a powerful interior lineman who should improve the run defense while also offering plenty of upside as a pass-rusher. <strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p><strong>Chargers select Omarion Hampton</strong><br><em>RB, North Carolina - 22nd overall</em></p><p>Hampton is a fun player, and his physical running style will be a great fit in a Jim Harbaugh offense. We'll give some credit with that in mind, but this feels like a missed opportunity to address the biggest hole on the roster. The Chargers desperately need another receiver to pair with Ladd McConkey. Matthew Golden's speed could've been a really nice complement on the outside. There would've been plenty of opportunities to find a running back on Day 2. <strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p><strong>Packers select Matthew Golden</strong><br><em>WR, Texas - 23rd overall</em></p><p>They did it. They finally did it. For the first time since 2002, the Packers drafted a receiver in the first round. Golden's production isn't quite in line with most top prospects at the position, but the tape tells a different story. He's got a good release package, runs good routes, and tracks the ball well. And then there's that 4.29 speed. Golden's ability to stretch the field will be a nice addition to the Packers' passing game. <strong>Grade: A-</strong></p><p><strong>Vikings select Donovan Jackson</strong><br><em>OL, Ohio State - 24th overall</em></p><p>Offensive line overhaul: complete. The Vikings were understandably aggressive in adding to this group in free agency, bringing in Will Fries and Ryan Kelly. With Jackson filling that last spot at left guard, and Christian Darrisaw and Brian O'Neill holding things down at tackle, this offensive line is suddenly looking impressive. This is how you set your young quarterback up for success. <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p>🚨 <strong>Giants trade up for Jaxson Dart</strong><br><em>QB, Ole Miss - 25th overall</em></p><p><strong>Trade details:</strong> <em>Texans send No. 25. to Giants for No. 34 (2nd round), No. 99 (3rd round), 2026 3rd-round pick</em></p><p>If you've been following along here and thinking we've been too positive about these picks, this one's for you. The Giants needed a quarterback, and it's never a bad idea to take a swing at the most important position on the field. But there's a real chance this one ends up as a massive whiff. Dart has a long way to go in terms of processing and decision-making. The physical skills are fine, but it's just so hard to project how he'll transition to the NFL coming from that Ole Miss offense. And to give up that many picks to do it? With Shedeur Sanders still on the board? Not great. <strong>Grade: D+</strong></p><p><strong>Falcons trade up for James Pearce Jr.</strong><br><em>EDGE, Tennessee - 26th overall</em></p><p><strong>Trade details:</strong> <em>Rams send No. 26, No. 101 (3rd round) to Falcons for No. 46 (2nd round), No. 242 (7th round), 2026 1st-round pick</em></p><p>What in the world are the Falcons doing? We can all appreciate the effort to solidify the pass rush. Doubling up on edge defenders after taking Jalon Walker at No. 15 is a really fun idea for a defense that needed it in the worst way. And Pearce does have some upside. But the cost here is downright indefensible. You simply can't give up a future first-round pick to get back into the end of Day 1. That will never not be bad business. This is easily the worst move of the first round so far. <strong>Grade: F</strong></p><p><strong>Ravens select Malaki Starks</strong><br><em>S, Georgia - 27th overall</em></p><p>Breaking news: The Ravens are good at this. It's become something of an annual tradition for Baltimore to find great value while regularly picking toward the end of the first round. Starks, our No. 1 safety and No. 20 overall player, continues that trend. His do-it-all skill set will be a great fit alongside superstar safety Kyle Hamilton. <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p><strong>Lions select Tyleik Williams</strong><br><em>DL, Ohio State - 28th overall</em></p><p>This one is a bit of a surprise. Williams is a great run defender who should have no trouble translating that skill set to the next level. He's certainly a Lions-type player. Detroit could've found more upside to help get it over the hump right now. <strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p><strong>Commanders select Josh Conerly Jr.</strong><br><em>OL, Oregon - 29th overall</em></p><p>Commanders fans hoping for defensive playmakers may be disappointed with this one. Still, it's hard to have too many issues with a team doing everything possible to protect its young quarterback. Trading for Laremy Tunsil was the first big move on that front, and Conerly should be a nice bookend at tackle. Washington can go all in on defense on Day 2. <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p><strong>Bills select Maxwell Hairston</strong><br><em>CB, Kentucky - 30th overall</em></p><p>Cornerback always seemed like a logical target for the Bills here, and Hairston is an exciting one. Not only is he an elite athlete - running a 4.28 40-yard dash at the combine - but he's also got instincts to make plays on the ball. Hairston could be a game-changer for this defense. <strong>Grade: A-</strong></p><p><strong>Eagles trade up for Jihaad Campbell</strong><br><em>LB, Alabama - 31st overall</em></p><p><strong>Trade details:</strong> <em>Chiefs trade No. 31 to Eagles for No. 32, No. 164 (5th round)</em></p><p>The other 31 teams just don't learn, do they? The Eagles have the best roster in football because Howie Roseman consistently finds ridiculous value with star players in the draft. He may have done it again here. Campbell was our No. 1 linebacker and No. 14 overall player in this class. He's tenacious in the run game and has good instincts in coverage. Lining him up next to 2024 breakout star Zack Baun makes an already great defense even better. <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p><strong>Chiefs select Josh Simmons</strong><br><em>OL, Ohio State - 32nd overall</em></p><p>The rest of the league is probably going to regret letting this one happen. Simmons was only available at this spot because he's still working his way back from a torn patellar tendon sustained in October. But all indications are that the recovery is on track. The Ohio State standout is the most talented pass-protector in this draft. If healthy, he easily could have been a top-five pick. <li>Will Johnson's fall is reportedly due to a knee issue. The Raiders are desperate for a corner, so they should be happy to gamble on the upside of an elite playmaker at the position.</li>
<li>The Bears weren't able to land Ashton Jeanty in the first round, but TreVeyon Henderson is a nice backup plan in the second, giving Ben Johnson's offense a three-down weapon.</li>
<li>Quinshon Judkins, the other star runner out of Ohio State, lands in Dallas. It feels like the perfect fit because the Cowboys have to address their backfield at some point on Day 2.</li>
<li>The Chargers finding a long-term running back in Omarion Hampton in the first round and then landing receiver Tre Harris at No. 55 finally provides this offense some firepower.</li>

<p>Draft day is one week away. Let's celebrate with another mock.</p><p>It's getting increasingly difficult to avoid chalk selections up top, as the first three picks are starting to seem like locks. We'll try to make up for it by getting creative further down the board, including a pair of big trades for quarterbacks.</p><h3>The picks</h3><figure class="article-segment--embed"><iframe title="Mock draft - 1 week out" aria-label="Table" id="datawrapper-chart-AaCpw" src="https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/AaCpw/2/" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="width: 0; min-width: 100% !important; border: none;" height="1382" data-external="1"></iframe><script type="text/javascript">!function(){"use strict";window.addEventListener("message",(function(a){if(void 0!==a.data["datawrapper-height"]){var e=document.querySelectorAll("iframe");for(var t in a.data["datawrapper-height"])for(var r,i=0;r=e[i];i++)if(r.contentWindow===a.source){var d=a.data["datawrapper-height"][t]+"px";r.style.height=d}}}))}();
</script></figure><h3>Giants do both</h3><p>The Giants passing on Shedeur Sanders at No. 3 would be a tough decision, but it's probably the right one with Abdul Carter still on the board. This doesn't have to be an either-or situation, though.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>There should be no shortage of teams in the back half of the first round looking to trade down and stockpile picks. The Broncos, who happen to be selecting one spot in front of the quarterback-needy Steelers, are probably one of them. The Giants could put together a package of Day 2 picks, or perhaps a deal involving Kayvon Thibodeaux (who would likely be shopped after the Carter pick) to entice the Broncos to move back to the second pick of the second round.</p><p>It'd be an expensive move, but moving back up for Sanders is a reasonable gamble for the Giants to lock down a quarterback of the future. It makes plenty of sense for the Broncos, too. Denver gets a bunch of assets to slide back and take TreVeyon Henderson, a perfect Sean Payton running back who is probably a sneaky candidate to be picked at No. 20, anyway.</p><h3>Saints follow suit</h3><p>Quarterback is going to be a popular pick for the Saints at No. 9 after the news that a shoulder injury could keep Derek Carr out for the entirety of the 2025 season. Perhaps that's the route they go. But they probably don't have to force it that early.</p><p>Investing in a player such as Mykel Williams, a far more safe pick at another position of significant value, is the smarter move at ninth overall. Coming all the way up from No. 40 to get back into the first round for the quarterback won't be cheap, but the Saints have a pair of picks in both the third and fourth rounds to dangle in trade talks. While you can certainly argue against spending so much draft capital on a developmental quarterback such as Dart, that's never stopped this team from going bold before.</p><p>The Vikings would presumably be happy to move all the way back to the No. 8 pick of the second round because they've got only four picks currently at their disposal. Adding to that total and still landing a talented cornerback such as Shavon Revel Jr. would be the latest stroke of genius from this front office.</p><h3>Steelers pass on QBs?</h3><p>The Giants jumping up for the falling Sanders creates an interesting scenario for the Steelers. Reaching for one of the other quarterbacks is certainly an option. That could be either Dart or Jalen Milroe who have accepted invitations to the NFL draft green room - an apparent indicator of the league's confidence they'll be selected on Day 1.</p><p>But we're still operating under the assumption the Steelers will eventually get a deal done with Aaron Rodgers. With that in mind, there's a real argument to be made for doing everything they can to build around the future Hall of Famer for as long as he's playing - especially with the top two passers off the board. Hampton, an explosive three-down back, fills a major need in the backfield after the free-agent departure of Najee Harris.</p><h3>Dolphins replace Ramsey</h3><p>Miami has agreed to explore trade options for Jalen Ramsey, which would leave a glaring need at cornerback. While questions about Will Johnson's long speed won't go away after he opted against running the 40-yard dash at a pre-draft workout this week, the playmaking traits still make him a borderline top-10 talent. If the first round goes anything like this mock scenario, the starting-caliber depth at corner could be long gone by the time the Dolphins are back on the clock in the second round. They might not have as much trouble finding a way to upgrade the offensive line in that spot.</p><p><em>Dan Wilkins is theScore's senior NFL writer.</em></p>

He's an explosive athlete who is relentless in pursuit, demonstrating speed and range from the second level. He offers an ideal skill set in the passing game, as he plays with good instincts in coverage, provides pass-rush value as a blitzer, and even has the ability to kick out and get after the quarterback off the edge.</p><p>Campbell navigates traffic well as a run defender and has the lateral agility and hand usage to defeat blocks and make a play on the ball. He also plays with the physicality and tenacity to take on climbing linemen. He'll likely need to improve his processing speed in the run game to consistently get downhill on time. A post-combine surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder could put his summer availability in question, but there's just so much to like here. The UCLA product is an excellent athlete with the fluidity and coverage instincts to be a real plus contributor in the passing game. His physical gifts were also put to use as a blitzer from the second level, as he finished the 2024 season with 4.5 sacks. Schwesinger isn't the most physical presence at the position, so he likely won't be the kind of player to stack against opposing offensive linemen. He still finds a way to make it work in the run game, though, making good reads and using his agility to navigate confined spaces and work around blocks. Tackling isn't an issue, either, as he consistently wraps up the ball-carrier with good technique. He shows the ability to either take on and shed blocks from offensive linemen or slip past them laterally to put himself in a position to make a play. And he's a reliable finisher when it comes to tackling. But Stutsman likely won't be a big-time playmaker in coverage. His instincts in that regard aren't quite in line with what he's shown in the run game, and he may not have the short-area quickness to match running backs in man-to-man assignments. That said, he's still more serviceable than you might expect as a zone dropper, and an impressive combine performance confirmed that he's got plenty of speed for the position. He's got the ability to impact the game as a blitzer, too. The Georgia product is an impressive athlete with coverage skills that could immediately make him an impact player in the passing game. He's fluid and instinctive in zone while also offering the ability to match up with tight ends and running backs in man-to-man. He even held his own with some occasional work lined up in the slot in college. Mondon is also a physical and reliable tackle who can offer some upside as a blitzer from the second level. He doesn't quite have the size to be taking on blocks between the tackles, and he could stand to improve when it comes to making reads and getting downhill more efficiently in the run game. But the coverage ability will play in sub packages from Day 1. </script></figure><p>Knight brings the energy and physicality you want from your leader in the middle of the defense. The South Carolina standout is a good athlete with sideline-to-sideline range and impressive burst in pursuit. He reads his keys well in the run game and is eager to throw his weight around. He's one of the few college linebackers who can stack and shed against linemen, and he's a consistent finisher when he has the opportunity to make a play on the ball-carrier. Knight is smooth in coverage drops, but the lateral quickness and an apparent lack of feel for routes developing behind him could limit his playmaking ability on passing downs. It's also worth noting that he's older than the average prospect, as he'll turn 26 near the end of his rookie season. <p>The 2025 NFL Draft gets underway two weeks from today.</p><p>Uncertainty over the draft stock of Shedeur Sanders, among other factors, figures to make this one of the most unpredictable classes in recent memory. And might there be some momentum for a third quarterback to hear his name called on Day 1?</p><p>Let's dive in with another first-round thought experiment. </script></figure><h3>Highlights</h3><p><strong>Sanders ➡️ Saints</strong></p><p>Sanders falling to the Saints at No. 9 might seem too far. Or is it not far enough? The Colorado star is the consensus <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3249735" href="https://thescore.com/news/3249735">No. 2 passer</a> in the draft, but that won't guarantee him a spot at the top of the first round. Recent reports suggest the Browns and Giants, who are more desperate than anyone for a young quarterback, will look elsewhere with their first picks.</p><p>Any such rumors may prove to be little more than standard pre-draft gamesmanship. If the Giants take Abdul Carter, that would probably require trading former first-rounder Kayvon Thibodeaux. But if Sanders isn't seen as a clear top-10 overall talent, which may be the case, it's easy to understand why Cleveland and New York would prefer to mitigate the risk and instead opt for the two best players in the draft.</p><p>The Saints are a complete wild card at No. 9. This front office has a habit of operating in a win-now mode no matter what, so it's possible New Orleans wouldn't be the one to end a potential Sanders slide. However, this could also be a unique opportunity to set the club up to move on from Derek Carr by 2026. It's at least something to consider.</p><p>If the Saints pass, we could be looking at a free-fall scenario that leads to teams like the Browns and Giants competing to trade back into the end of the first round to get Sanders. Interestingly enough, that would open the possibility that Sanders and Travis Hunter become teammates again at the next level.</p><p><strong>Milroe ➡️ Steelers</strong></p><p>The Steelers' pick is the other one bound to create a stir. Jalen Milroe has the best physical traits of any quarterback in the draft, but he's got a long way to go as a passer. Someone is going to take a chance on that upside, though. And it suddenly seems it could be earlier than anyone thought possible.</p><p>We should note that Milroe reportedly accepted an invitation to attend the draft this week. Maybe that proves meaningless when draft weekend rolls around. But it could indicate the NFL and Milroe believe he won't have to worry about awkwardly sitting in the green room well into Day 2.</p><p>There's a strong case that the Steelers should use every resource to build a contender around Aaron Rodgers, assuming they can eventually close that deal. At the same time, Pittsburgh doesn't want to be back in quarterback purgatory when he retires. Milroe would at least give the team a succession plan. And sitting behind a future Hall of Famer for a year or two wouldn't hurt his development.</p><p><strong>McMillan ➡️ Cowboys</strong></p><p>Tetairoa McMillan is starting to feel like a great option for the Cowboys at No. 12. This offense desperately needs to add playmakers alongside CeeDee Lamb. With Ashton Jeanty presumably off the board, it might make sense to wait until Day 2 to take advantage of a loaded running back class. The receiver group isn't quite as deep. McMillan is one of the few with true star potential, and his big-play ability on the boundary could be an outstanding complement to Lamb.</p><p><strong>Loveland ➡️ Rams</strong></p><p>The Rams could certainly add to the defense in this spot, but it's worth remembering they were reportedly exploring the possibility of trading up for tight end Brock Bowers last year. Colston Loveland is another dynamic target who can also hold his own as an in-line blocker. Los Angeles' offense could be tough to stop with the Michigan product stepping in as a third option in the pass game alongside Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.</p><p><em>Dan Wilkins is theScore's senior NFL writer.</em></p>
