<p>The Los Angeles Lakers struggled in Saturday's Game 1 blowout loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, but <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/96101" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/96101">Austin Reaves</a> is expecting a different result for Tuesday's Game 2.</p><p>"Hopefully, we can just right our wrongs," Reaves said Monday, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/44788357/redick-lauds-lakers-practice-bemoans-earlier-lack-focus">ESPN's Dave McMenamin</a>. "We played bad, they shot the ball really well. They're obviously a really good team that's physical. We got to match that. Tomorrow, it'll be a different story."</p><p>The Wolves shot 51.2% from the field and 50% from three in the series-opening win. While L.A. struggled offensively, star <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/68198" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/68198">Luka Doncic</a> was the only Laker to exceed 20 points and shoot above 50%.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"Shitty," Reaves said of his 5-of-13 shooting performance in the 117-95 loss. "I wasn't myself. To what the reason was, don't know. But just got to go out there and be myself, play my game and have fun doing it."</p><p>Head coach JJ Redick said Monday marked the "best practice (the Lakers) had in months," noting the team "played live for a very extended period" during the session.</p><p>Redick also acknowledged that the club should have approached its off days leading up to the playoffs with greater intensity, attributing Los Angeles' Game 1 issues to a lack of organization.</p><p>"I think a lot of times you would hear that word and then you would think, 'Oh, it's the point guard calling a play,'" Redick said. "No, it's just all of the normal stuff that we try to do, and when we do it, we're really good. Being organized is screening. Being organized is getting to the proper spacing. Being organized is getting the corners filled after makes and misses. That's being organized."</p><p>Going down in the series was a setback, but Reaves called the loss a "wake-up call."</p><p>"We just have to do a lot of things better," Redick added. <p><a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/62077" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/62077">Ja Morant</a> is vowing that the Memphis Grizzlies won't repeat their historically poor performance during Sunday's 51-point Game 1 loss to the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.</p><p>"We will never play that bad again," Morant said, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/44771092/jay-morant-vows-grizzlies-never-play-bad-again">ESPN's Tim MacMahon</a>.</p><p>The 51-point margin is the fifth-highest in a playoff game in NBA history, according to ESPN Research. It's the most lopsided postseason contest since the Chicago Bulls beat the Milwaukee Bucks by 54 points in 2015. The Thunder led by as many as 56.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"Luckily for us, there's only one way from this, and that's up," said Grizzlies interim head coach Tuomas Iisalo. "We will analyze it, we'll learn from it, and then we will fix those things that hurt us. But there were a lot of things."</p><p>The Thunder are expecting a much better fight from the Grizzlies in Game 2.</p><p>"We kind of have to take this win, like, they're going to be way better in Game 2," Thunder forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/102799" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/102799">Jalen Williams</a> said. "We're trying to not give them a lot of life in regards to that. That's a really good team over there, so Game 2 is going to be completely different. We're kind of competing with ourselves in a way to make sure we're sharp for Game 2."</p><p>OKC's top-ranked defense forced the Grizzlies into 21 turnovers and held them to 34.4% shooting. Memphis also struggled from beyond the arc, going 6-of-34 from three.</p><p>"You got to turn the page fast," Grizzlies guard <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/93901" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/93901">Desmond Bane</a> said. "Definitely take the rest of this afternoon and kind of see what we could have done better, but at the end of the day, it's one game. If we lose by 50 or lose on a buzzer-beater, the series is still 1-0."</p><p>Memphis is also dealing with a hobbled Morant, who sprained his right ankle during Tuesday's play-in loss to the Golden State Warriors.</p><p>Morant received pain-killing injections to play in the Grizzlies' second play-in game against the Dallas Mavericks. He declined to reveal if he got another shot prior to Sunday's contest, saying his ankle "felt good."</p><p>Memphis and OKC will meet in Game 2 on Tuesday.</p>

<p><a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/347" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/347">Russell Westbrook</a> stole the show for the Denver Nuggets in Saturday's 112-110 overtime victory over his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers, in Game 1.</p><p>The nine-time All-Star sealed Denver's win with a clutch defensive play late in the extra frame as he deflected an inbound pass to force a turnover. </p><p>"I know that play," Westbrook said, referring to his time with the Clippers, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/44755095/nuggets-erase-15-point-deficit-stun-clippers-game-1-ot-win">ESPN's Ramona Shelburne</a>. "They have a dynamic roller with (<a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/52287" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/52287">Ivica Zubac</a>), great cutters and guys that catch lobs. My job is to be able to be the low man and find ways to, excuse my language, f--k shit up."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Westbrook's defense shined throughout the contest, and it earned praise from Nuggets interim head coach David Adelman.</p><p>"Russ is Russ," Adelman said postgame. "Defensively he was absolutely incredible. He was playing free safety out there. I thought a lot of the reasons why the (Clippers' 20) turnovers happened, even if it wasn't him forcing it, just the way he was roaming around and impacting the game, it was great for us."</p><p>The 36-year-old also contributed 15 points in the victory, including a 3-pointer late in regulation to give the Nuggets a late lead. It wasn't the most efficient scoring effort, however, as he shot 5-of-17 from the field.</p><p>"Offensively, a couple of times I thought he attacked, maybe we could have pulled it out and executed, but that's what Russ does," Adelman said. "He's going to play in attack mode. I don't think he's going to change after 17 years. If he sees somebody in front of him one-on-one, he's going to attack, and he made an enormous three in the fourth."</p><p>The Nuggets know what to expect from Westbrook, and they respect his belief in himself.</p><p>"I think he has the most confidence of anyone in this matchup," <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/37604" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/37604">Nikola Jokic</a> said after scoring 29 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds in the win.</p><p>The teams will meet for Game 2 on Monday.</p><p> </p>

"He comes up with some stuff that I'm not sure there's any other human being on the planet that can do."</p><p>The Grizzlies dominated from the opening tip. <p>Memphis Grizzlies star <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/62077" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/62077">Ja Morant</a> is available for Friday's play-in tournament clash against the Dallas Mavericks despite a right ankle sprain.</p><p>Morant received injections on his ankle Thursday and Friday to help manage the pain, sources told <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/44740104/grizzlies-ja-morant-face-mavericks-ailing-ankle">ESPN's Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon</a>.</p><p>The two-time All-Star suffered the injury in Tuesday's play-in loss to the Golden State Warriors. He managed to play through the ailment, posting 22 points in 35 minutes.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The injury would sideline Morant in the regular season, as he continues to experience significant soreness and swelling, Charania and MacMahon report.</p><p>Morant was the Grizzlies' leading scorer this season, averaging 23.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.3 assists across 50 games. </p><p>The winner of Friday's tilt will go on to the playoffs as the 8-seed and face the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.</p>

"It mostly came from Dallas, so I didn't want to talk back. But I don't really read that much stuff. I'm just trying to focus on my journey."</p><p>Doncic said he felt heartbroken when he was moved but added that he's now "getting used to" L.A.</p><p>Although Doncic said he wanted to spend his entire career with the Mavericks, he now hopes to remain with the Lakers.</p><p>L.A. begins its first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. </p><p> </p>

"I've waited for this moment a long time. Saying goodbye to Illinois will be the hardest part. I've made friendships and built real relationships with players, coaches, support staff, and everyone around Champaign. My goal now is to work as hard as I can and be the best version of myself."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Jakucionis earned spots on the Big Ten All-Freshman team and the All-Big Ten second team for his standout campaign.
