A second-tier Spanish football match was briefly paused after another incident of alleged racism on Saturday.

The referee wrote in his report that Real Sociedad B's Japanese defender Kazunari Kita told him he had been racially abused by Castellon's Alberto Jimenez.

"In the 94th minute the anti-racism protocol was activated," wrote referee Alonso de Ena Wolf, noting that the insult was "not heard by any member of the officiating team".

Mid-table Real Sociedad B beat second-place Castellon 4-2.

Last week Espanyol defender Omar El Hilali accused Elche forward Rafa Mir of a racist insult during a La Liga match.

Spanish football has struggled to deal with racism in the stands in recent years, with Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior regularly targeted.

In February Brazil international Vinicius also accused Benfica midfielder Gianluca Prestianni of racially abusing him during a Champions League game.
