Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony was diagnosed with a right wrist sprain after leaving Monday's game early and is considered day-to-day, according to MassLive's Chris Cotillo.
Anthony received the diagnosis after returning to Boston to visit a hand specialist Tuesday. While he'll avoid the injured list for now, the 21-year-old will miss at least the rest of the Red Sox series in Detroit, according to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe.
Anthony suffered the injury on a swing in the first inning of Monday's game against the Tigers. After being visited by a trainer and having a lengthy conversation, he continued his at-bat and grounded into a fielder's choice. He took his position for the bottom of the first but was replaced by Masataka Yoshida in left field to start the second.

Initial X-rays taken in Detroit returned negative. Still, the Red Sox sent Anthony back to Boston as a precaution.
"(I) just took a swing and it didn't feel good, and as I came back in and went under to continue to swing, it just was painful," he explained after Monday's game, adding that the pain was at the "top of the hand," per NESN.
"I've never really dealt with something like this, never even had any pain in my hand before, so we'll see what happens."
Anthony was an AL Rookie of the Year finalist in 2025 despite playing in just 71 games because of an oblique strain. However, he's had a slow start to his sophomore campaign, hitting .229/.354/.321 with one homer, five RBIs, and 20 walks across 130 plate appearances.
Boston signed Anthony to an eight-year, $130-million extension in August.
