The New York Mets placed outfielder Juan Soto on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a left calf strain.
Soto exited Friday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to calf soreness. He was serving as the designated hitter for his second straight contest and hadn't played the outfield since July 20.
Following Friday's 4-2 loss, manager Andy Green said Soto would undergo imaging for an injury that has "nagged him for a week now."
The five-time All-Star is hitting .283/.408/.539 with 21 homers and seven stolen bases in 84 games this campaign. The 27-year-old is in the second season of his 15-year, $765-million contract.
The Mets recalled infielder Eric Wagaman from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Wagaman, 28, has appeared in 21 games for the Mets this year, hitting .162/.262/.324 with two homers while appearing at first base, third base, and the outfield.
