Texas Longhorns edge rusher Colin Simmons believes his team's mistakes, not Oklahoma's play, cost them a 27-24 loss in the Red River Rivalry on Saturday afternoon.
"We definitely beat ourselves. Only Texas can beat Texas," Simmons told reporters postgame, according to On Texas Football's CJ Vogel.
Oklahoma kicker Tate Sandell drilled a 47-yard field goal with time expiring to secure the win. The Sooners had a chance for a final drive after quarterback Arch Manning threw an interception with under 20 seconds left at Oklahoma's 49-yard line.

The late pick was Manning's second interception of the game. Oklahoma returned his first one 42 yards for a third-quarter touchdown to take a 24-17 lead. The Sooners also scored off a blocked punt early in the second quarter, ultimately punching in just one offensive touchdown in the contest.
Manning finished the game completing 19 of 31 passes for 260 yards with three touchdowns and two picks. The young signal-caller's 2026 season is off to a disappointing start despite a 4-1 record, as he ranks 69th in EPA/dropback among 136 qualifyied FBS quarterbacks, according to TruMedia.
"We gotta do a better job, especially me, not being loose with the ball ... I think we beat ourselves a lot tonight," Manning said postgame, according to Spectrum News Texas' Travis Recek.
Despite Texas leading the SEC in three-and-out percentage this season, head coach Steve Sarkisian said he won't give up play-calling duties.
Texas will look to bounce back next Saturday when it hosts Florida, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET.
