Jared Verse says the Cleveland Browns are coming to take over Pittsburgh when they meet the Steelers in a high-stakes divisional matchup this weekend.
"I'm not worried about Cam (Heyward). I'm not worried about their O-line. I'm not worried about nobody they got on their team," Verse said Thursday, according to ESPN Cleveland. "We're out there to go dominate. We're about to make Pittsburgh ours on Sunday."
Verse's issues with the Steelers date back to Cleveland's Week 4 victory over Pittsburgh, when he accused the AFC North rival of playing dirty.
"They were talking crazy. I was telling them, 'You're double-teaming, y'all sliding, y'all garbage.' I was talking crazy to them," Verse said after the win, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "I don't have any respect for anybody that plays too dirty and does too much extra shit after the game, excuse my French. So, I can't wait to see them again. It's going to be a good time when I see them again."
Heyward said Tuesday that Verse's previous comments will be "addressed" Sunday.
"Double-teaming, sliding, chipping - are those not allowed in our game?" Heyward said on "The Rich Eisen Show."
"Yeah, I got the bruises to prove it," Heyward said when asked if he's received the same treatment. "But we don't whine about it, baby. It's part of the game. So, I'm looking forward to this game. It's gonna be a fun game. Both teams are in position to do a lot of work in this division. The AFC North is on fire, and I'm glad I'm in the kitchen because I like it that way. But those are words that were said, and they will be addressed."
The Steelers and Browns both enter Sunday's matchup with 5-2 records. The winner will take the lead in the AFC North.
