Dallas Stars restricted free agent Jason Robertson filed for arbitration ahead of Sunday's 5 p.m. ET deadline.
Robertson will now be ineligible to sign an offer sheet this offseason.
Robertson is eligible to ink an extension at any point, but if his next deal is settled via arbitration, he can only sign for one year. A one-year contract would make the 26-year-old an unrestricted free agent next summer.
The Stars have nearly $9.8 million in cap space, per PuckPedia, which likely isn't enough to retain Robertson on a long-term deal. The All-Star winger is a three-time 40-goal scorer, and led Dallas with 96 points last season.
Robertson reportedly nixed a potential sign-and-trade with the Seattle Kraken earlier this offseason. Seattle offered him an eight-year deal worth approximately $15 million per season.
