Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is ready to start his team's season-opening matchup against the Denver Broncos on Monday.

"This has always been the goal, to get out there and play Week 1," Mahomes said Thursday, according to McKenzie Nelson of KSHB 41 News. "It was a long offseason. A lot of work. Lot of great people around me. ... Super excited. I get to play at Arrowhead against a great opponent."
Mahomes hasn't suited up since tearing the ACL and LCL in his left knee on Dec. 14.
Kansas City lost its last six games of the 2025 season and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
Mahomes has won three Super Bowls and earned three Super Bowl MVPs during his nine-year career with the Chiefs. He's thrown for 35,939 yards with 267 touchdowns and 85 interceptions.
