Erling Haaland didn't start Norway's final group match against France as head coach Stale Solbakken made sweeping changes to his lineup in an effort to rest the majority of his key players.

Both Norway and France already secured passage to the World Cup knockout stage after winning their first two games of the tournament, but Friday's match in Boston will determine which side finishes atop Group I.

Haaland is available off the bench.

Fredrik Aursnes is the only player to retain his place in Norway's starting XI as Solbakken made 10 changes from the team that defeated Senegal.

Haaland's absence from the lineup could hurt his chances of winning the Golden Boot as the tournament's top scorer. The star striker, playing in his first World Cup, is tied with France's Kylian Mbappe on four goals through two games. Mbappe was named in France's starting XI for the match.

Both men trail Argentina icon Lionel Messi, who leads the race with five tallies.

France leads Group I thanks to its superior goal difference over Norway, so a draw will be enough for Les Bleus to top the group.

The group winner will play a third-place finisher in the round of 32, while second place in Group I yields a knockout matchup with the Ivory Coast.
